How I met my man
We met completely by chance, at a nightclub in Rethymno in 2010. I was there with my best friend, Rena… today she is our best gal! Our second meeting was also by chance, on the night of Christmas Eve! We kept in touch, but I had planned a big trip to Asia for two months. So after I came back from Thailand, Vietnam and Hong Kong we were finally able to start dating!
Then, he proposed…
He proposed in 2014. I was exhausted that night, as I had just come back to Greece from a business trip. We hadn’t seen each other for a month and Giannis had prepared a special night for us at home, to celebrate my birthday that was on the day before! We were alone near the fireplace when he got down on one knee and asked me to spend our lives together! We got married on October 10, in a little church, in the traditional village of Archanes in Crete.
Magic lies in the details
Our wedding style was traditional – chic. The colors were white and gold, with wooden details as well, like the tree stump-tray and the wooden-gold vow crowns by Atelier Zolotas.
My bouquet was comprised of roses, orchids and various other flowers in the color of white! For the flower arrangement, we used white and salmon-pink roses along with baby’s-breath.
I loved the flower decoration of the church and my favorite wedding detail were the golden jars as our centerpieces!
The worst wedding decision I made!
The timing of the wedding was kind of bad, but that date was our only option. It made us feel very stressed about the possibility of rain, because the wedding ceremony was in the exterior of the church, as well as a big part of the reception.
If I had to choose one favorite moment!
It was the moment I arrived at the church, accompanied by my family and an orchestra of traditional Cretan musicians, when I cast my eyes on my beloved relatives and friends I hadn’t seen for a long time.
If I could give some advice to a bride-to-be…
Work with a wedding planner! It will make your life a lot easier!
Oh, my wedding dress!
It was the best!! Minimal and so elegant… and also Hellenic! It was totally me.
The wedding experience in Atelier Zolotas was extremely delightful! I would like to thank each and every one of them, my sweet Theodora who was always joyful and helpful, Ms. Melina-my wedding consultant, and the seamstresses that I hope I didn’t torture with all those fitting appointments, Ms. Maria for the lovely wedding favors she made for us, and of course, the designer, VG Zolotas, who is nothing less than an artist and a beautiful person!
I would like to thank the following people, for turning my dream into a wedding reality…
