How I met my man
We met at our friends’ wedding due to quite a deliberate seating plan, according to which we were placed at the same table! Spyros first noticed me at a basketball game. He was teammates with the groom and I was friends with the bride. You see, they left me no choice but to meet the man I was going to marry!
Then, he proposed…
The wedding proposal was unexpected, as we had been living together since the first year we met and it was clear to us that we would spend our lives together. I thought we skipped the proposal part, until one day he took me by surprise! We had ordered brunch from Sweet Co by Didi at home. The surprise was that in the package, there was a ring and all of a sudden Spyros asked me to be his wife! Our wedding took place on the 4rth of July, at Kanala, on the beautiful island of Kythnos.
The best wedding decision I ever made… and also the worst one!
Having the wedding on Kythnos island, where the groom comes from, and also that the reception was held directly next to the church. There wasn’t a bad one, but if I could do it all over, I would hire someone to coordinate things during the wedding day!
Magic lies in the details
The style of my wedding was Rustic. The key elements were the nautical rope and burlap that harmonized with the island style of the wedding. The flower arrangements were white and my wedding bouquet consisted of freesias and amaranth. The flower decoration was made entirely with baby’s-breath.
As the reception tables were oblong, there was more than one centerpiece. Along each table, there were glass cylinders, decorated with burlap that contained baby’s breath flowers and candles! Similar vases were hanging from the trees around the reception area and the result was really atmospheric. There were also hanging baskets filled with the same flowers, decorating the area around the church.
If I had to choose one favorite moment!
There are a lot of them… But I would distinguish those two minutes before going to our reception, when we looked at each other and said: “we just got married”! Other than that, I could do this every year!! We had an amazing time!
If I could give some advice to a bride-to-be…
Don’t get stressed, because the wedding day is basically a celebration and no matter what might go wrong, the gist is that you’re marrying your man. As for the organizational part, I think that the most important thing is that you have decided on the concept and that you stick to it! Do not get disorientated!
Oh, my wedding dress!
I actually believe it found me, not the other way around. Initially, I had something else in mind, but from the moment I tried it on I couldn’t get it out of my head! It was made of copaneli fabric and it was transparent along the legs, with handmade motifs. It was a very distinctive and impressive wedding dress. It combined different elements, traditional fabrics with innovative transparencies and I believe it brought out my best features, something that every bride wishes for. The best part is that it was really comfortable to wear, and in spite of its long train, it allowed me to move around and dance the whole night long! What I also enjoyed is that it was lightweight and I didn’t get hot, although my wedding was in July. I believe that VG Zolotas, who had designed my wedding dress, managed, without knowing me, to create a dress that fully represented me. I could not have chosen anything better than Atelier Zolotas!
