We met in Patra in 2008 and instantly begun to hang out! We became good friends with a pretty passionate and loving turn of events!
It was Christmas and we were in New York. It was drizzling on Brooklyn Bridge, and everything was so beautiful around us. The location of the proposal was not planned in Nikos’s head, but it occurred because of the romantic moment and the light rain, as it had just gotten dark and the lit-up skyscrapers provided a dreamy backdrop!
The wedding ring was in a pouch filled with red candy, instead of a classic box! We got married on June 25th, at the church of Panagia Eleistria, in Koroni, Messinia.
Our wedding style was more on the vintage side! The palette was mainly in kraft color, white lace, and mint! We used meadow flowers, such as chamomile, lavender, lisianthus, and many others. I loved the choice of flowers, as well as the overall theme of our wedding, which was connected with the town of Koroni! We didn’t want to go over the top, but on the contrary, we wanted to reflect our personal taste. This is why my choice of a wedding dress had a vintage flair, as well as the groom’s attire, to which we added brogue shoes, suspenders, and a bow tie!
Our save-the-dates and official invitations were also in kraft paper, with mint details and twine. When it came to our wedding reception, we hosted it at Elaia houses, a private tourist accommodation complex that we especially adapted for the occasion. As an additional traditional touch, we offered our guests the traditional wedding sweet of “diples”, wrapped like candy and tied on the left and right with twine. Attached, there was a “Thank you, N&M” sticker in mint color!
We were “lucky” enough to have our wedding on a rainy day in June! But this didn’t deter us or our guests, and we enjoyed our wedding party until the early hours of the next day!
We made a lot of good decisions, like the right choice of DJ, who raised our spirits during the reception and made us dance all night long, as well as the choice of open bar and bartender!
If I could turn back time, I would change the choice of the wedding planner, which was our worst decision! Not only did she not live up to our expectations, but did not show up on the day of our wedding as well! Instead, she just sent someone else in her place!
Every moment of that day was important to me! Each and every one was unique, and I tried to experience it all to the fullest! Perhaps the most emotional one was the moment we met at the church and casting my eyes on Nikos, who was looking at me full of happiness!
I would advise her not to become anxious and enjoy every moment. It’s a once in a lifetime milestone and it passes so quickly! She should plan her wedding without exaggerations. Instead, she should be herself and the whole event should match the personal style and character of the couple!
I fell in love with my wedding dress instantly! It was a choice which I overenjoyed! It perfectly matched my wedding theme and the next day photo shoot I had in mind, at the castle of Koroni!
