How I met my man

We met during our summer holidays, in August 2006 at a picturesque village called Plagia, in Aitoloakarnania. We are lucky to come from this beautiful village, where we decided to get married.

Then, he proposed…

After a certain point, we just started organizing everything towards the same end! There wasn’t an actual proposal. We got married on the island of Lefkada, in Panagia of Vlacherna.

Magic lies in the details

The wedding style was a combination of both Greek and American 1940s vintage. The color palette was beige and ecru, with details of burlap and wood.

As for the bridal bouquet, it was vintage style, in the colors of dusky rose and salmon pink. The flowers were roses and orchids!

I would need another blog article to describe every decoration detail! All the following were handmade: the wedding invitations were made of burlap, the vow crowns were tied together with ecru/beige ribbon, the centerpieces were vases decorated with burlap and lace… Burlap runners, cut by hand, were running across the tables and small hanging pots, filled with sand and candles, decorated the reception area. The wedding favors were little wooden crates decorated with lace. Another beautiful detail was the embroidered burlap cushions, the burlap sacks containing the rice, and hanging sepia photographs that gave a vintage feeling.

The bride arrived at the church in a vintage 1920s car and our attire was exclusively tailored by Atelier Zolotas. The wedding gown was from the Hellenic Vintage collection and my suit included suspenders and a wooden bow tie by Mr. Wood!

The best wedding decision I ever made… and also the worst one!

Everything was PERFECT, just like in a movie. There wasn’t a single hitch, to the point that we began to wonder if this was truly possible! Even our guests were immaculately synchronized and acted as if they were watching a movie, which is rare for the Greek standards.

We made everything ourselves. No professionals were involved in the preparations. Everything was handmade to the last detail, with a lot of personal effort and the help of some close friends.

There wasn’t really a bad decision.

If I had to choose one favorite moment!

The time I got out of the vintage car and faced him. Oh, and every single moment of our wedding! 🙂

If I could give some advice to a bride-to-be…

Give your wedding a specific concept and theme so that everything expresses the same spirit. From the vow crowns to the bridal shoes and the wedding favors, there needs to be a connection. The color palette should also be in harmony.

Carefully choose your photographer, it is important that he has a specific concept of how to capture your wedding. This is what will remain in the end.

Finally, don’t leave anything for the last moment. Make all the arrangements in time. Time waits for no one!

Oh, my wedding dress!

Let me tell you about my dress. It was like seeing something for the first time and realizing how much you desired it, without knowing it. It totally matched the wedding theme and it was impeccable. It had fine details in every part of it and it was beautifully embroidered and distinctive, making me feel amazing when I wore it. It became the central point of every other aspect of our wedding concept. I felt that it fully represented my taste, something that was very important for me. The fact that it was actually tailored just for me, sur mesure, is truly remarkable.

Being in Atelier Zolotas was a wonderful experience. Everyone in the team was so helpful. After all, their style speaks for itself. When you stand out, after creating such a unique collection, then you are already distinguished. Even if it’s not for everyone, it is worth trying it out. We weren’t actually pursuing this style, but we consider ourselves lucky for meeting VG Zolotas, who gave us a different perspective on how we wanted our wedding to be. Special thanks to Nektarios, for the amazing styling!
