Jess & Stephen

How I met my man…

I met Stephen in high school. We are one of those couples! All my life, I have been traveling around the world with him.

Then, he proposed…

Stephen proposed on the 16th of Feb 2014, on a private beach in the Maldives. He had set up a private dinner for two, with a table full of seafood and lights surrounding us on the sand during sunset. We decided to get married on the Greek island of Mykonos, on the 5th of July.

The best wedding decision I ever made… and also the worst one!

The best decision was organizing it all by ourselves, that way we ended up having the wedding we wanted. The worst one was that we left a lot of things to the last minute, which meant spending the day before the wedding still organizing things rather than spending time with family!

Magic lies in the details

Our wedding style was simple/boho. The color scheme was green and white. The flowers were white peonies and olive leaves, except for my bridal crown which was made of pink and purple peonies (the only colors in the wedding).

We LOVED our decorations. We pretty much decorated the entire wedding ourselves. Our favorites would have to be the arch we got married under, and all the flower arrangements (our florist was incredible).

If I had to choose one favorite moment!

Probably the moments before the wedding… We spent the morning in a villa with all our friends and family having breakfast together, writing speeches and all getting ready at the same time! It was so amazing spending that time with them and feeling the excitement rise, as the time of the wedding got closer.

If I could give some advice to a bride-to-be…

Make sure you plan your wedding with your fiancé. So many brides forget that it is also her husband-to-be’s special day as well. It’s so nice to plan things together and both agree on how you want everything to look and how you want the day to go.

Oh, my wedding dress!

My wedding dress was a beautiful, handmade piece from Atelier Zolotas. I wanted something simple, with a boho feel. I also wanted it to come from Greece (since we were getting married on one of its islands). It was such a unique experience! I traveled to Athens full of excitement, to have my dress made. I came in for a fitting, chose the perfect dress and saw it come to life by hand, changing and adding elements to get just the dress I was after.

I would like to thank the following people, for turning my dream into a wedding reality…
